INTRODUCTION TO DOJO WISDOM

As a martial artist, I am always searching for ways to improve my life — whether it involves physical training, managing my business, or navigating verbal and personal challenges. This book grew from that pursuit. It is a living archive, a reference guide, and an evolving meditation that I can return to again and again. It is written for me as much as for anyone who practices martial arts and seeks to strengthen their life beyond the dojo.

The inspiration for this book began the moment I stepped into the dojo and listened to my Sensei speak. I realized I had a rare opportunity: to absorb his teachings, preserve them, and eventually pass them on to the next generation. The dojo’s BAND site became the perfect conduit — not just a bulletin board, but a living record of the dojo spirit. Through it, I captured Sensei’s lessons, my own experiences, and the research that deepened my understanding. Sensei often encouraged us to take notes, archive our insights, and keep a notebook. BAND allowed me to honor that instruction and expand it into something lasting.

Readers will notice that I view everything through a martial lens. The letters, creeds, and visual aids in this book are addressed to “My fellow Karatekas” because they are meant to guide the next generation. I want to help them cultivate awareness, protect themselves from life’s negative forces, and stand strong against confusion, misinformation, and the pressures of the world beyond the dojo. They are worthy of protection, guidance, and clarity.

My hope is that readers approach this book with respect and an open mind. My intention is to leave a legacy — to encourage others to question narratives, weigh risks, and embody awareness in all aspects of life. I want to pass down letters, creeds, stories, and words of wisdom that can inspire future generations. Above all, I want this book to honor my Sensei and my lineage, ensuring that the spirit of their teachings does not fade.
